This is the criteria for the perfect site: it should be flat, there should be enough space for the marquee, the ground should be grass, the ground should have good drainage and, there needs to be good access for the companies vans & lorries. Choosing the right marquee for your event
The choice is yours
The marquee is the most important purchase for your event. But, there are many different types, sizes & prices. So, which one is right for your event? Below you can find 10 commonly hire marquees in the UK.
The UK's #1 choice
Frame marquees are great for both large & small events. The modular design means they can be made shorter or longer by taking off or adding on new sections to the marquee. Frame marquees do not need guy ropes thanks to the outer frames which holds up the canopy.

Traditional pole marquees
The British wedding marquee
Traditional marquees are best for summer garden parties, classic British weddings & summer events. The familiar swooping lines of traditional marquees are created by the internal poles which push up & support the canvas (which is why they are also called pole marquees). Inside a traditional marquee there is a tremendous amount of space thanks to the high ceilings.

The iconic cone shape
Tipis are best for customers who are looking for a unique tent for their winter or summer wedding. The tents are erected using 9 wooden poles which creates the iconic cone shape we all know & love. The sides of tipis can be pinned, to open up the tent, which is why they get the nickname giant hat. Tipis can be linked to one another, so even if you have an event with 1000 guests, you can consider hiring tipis.

South African design
Stretch tents are ideal for summer parties & weddings if you have a medium to high budget. The tents are designed in a way to let them be anchored to almost any surface, such as sand, gravel, trees, buildings etc. This feature means the stretch tent can be erected at sites which would be impossible for other marquees.

What you need inside the marquee
The 5 essential furniture & accessories you need for a wedding
Options - matting, carpet or hard flooring

Options - round tables, long tables and rustic trestle tables
Options - parquet, black & white, wooden, all black, all white, L.E.D
Give your marquee a personality
The decor should relate to your theme, your colour scheme & your budget. Look for decor items that suits your theme and colour scheme, for example if you are having a rustic style wedding search for wooden furniture and brown & earthy colours.
If you have a higher budget, you can hire the decor from the marquee company or venue stylist. For example, if you are having a black tie theme you could hire chandeliers and a black & white dance floor.

Hiring a bar
Things you should know
Its easier to find a bar to hire, most marquee companies have bars you can hire, the most common are rustic wooden & L.E.D bars. The tricky part is deciding who is going to run the bar.
Here are the three main options our customers choose:
1) Run it yourself - you will need all of your own equipment (gas, bar, taps, bar itself, ice, fridges, glassware, dishwashers etc.) Don’t forget the alcohol, plus friends (staff) to man it on the day. Be aware you need to get a license before you serve alcohol.
2) Phone up local pubs - they will often run the bar free of charge. They make their money by selling the drinks to your guests. They will need to transfer their licence to your premise for the day.
3) Use the catering company - at an additional cost. Be sure to ask for their license.
Tips on choosing the right one
Catering can get complicated
Try not to choose the first company you find on the web, always shop-around and read reviews. If your friends have good recommendation, trust them. Reputable catering companies will offer tasting sessions, which we highly recommend you organise before paying a deposit.
Do not forget
7 easily forgotten things that could ruin your marquee wedding
1) Loo’s - If there isn’t any on site you will need to hire them.
2) Power or Generator - you will need electricity for the lighting, the band, Dj & catering equipment.
3) Heating - especially in winter.
4) Insurance - Many companies offer inexpensive cover.
5) Alcohol - your guests will drink more than expected.
6) Time - give yourself lots of time to decorate and make last-minute layout changes.
7) Disabled access - If needed, make sure there are ramps and rails.
We make money, but we don’t make it from you. The marquee companies pay us a small fee each time we get them new bookings.
The fee does not affect the final price you pay. You won’t pay less by booking directly with the marquee company.
In fact, the majority of our customers have told us they got a better deal by booking through us.
'The best deal' differs from customer to customer. Some customers want the cheapest marquee possible,
where some customers want a luxury marquee. We choose to work with a range of trusted companies with offer different marquees,
at different price points. So no matter how big or small your budget or what your definition of 'the best deal' is,
we have the marquee which is perfect for you.
We do not want to send awesome customers to not-so-awesome companies. So, before a company can join they are validated by our team of experts.
If they have bad reviews they can’t join and if they have cheaply made marquees they can’t join (you don’t want the tent flying away when it gets windy).
