The wedding site

The wedding site

What makes a site suitable for a marquee?

This is the criteria for the perfect site: it should be flat, there should be enough space for the marquee, the ground should be grass, the ground should have good drainage and, there needs to be good access for the companies vans & lorries. If your site matches the criteria then the marquee company will have no issue putting up the marquee there.

Choosing the right marquee for your event

Frame marquees

Frame marquees

The UK's #1 choice

Frame marquees are great for both large & small events. The modular design means they can be made shorter or longer by taking off or adding on new sections to the marquee. Frame marquees do not need guy ropes thanks to the outer frames which holds up the canopy.

Traditional pole marquees

Traditional pole marquees

The British wedding marquee

Traditional marquees are best for summer garden parties, classic British weddings & summer events. The familiar swooping lines of traditional marquees are created by the internal poles which push up & support the canvas (which is why they are also called pole marquees). Inside a traditional marquee there is a tremendous amount of space thanks to the high ceilings.

Tipis

Tipis

The iconic cone shape

Tipis are best for customers who are looking for a unique tent for their winter or summer wedding. The tents are erected using 9 wooden poles which creates the iconic cone shape we all know & love. The sides of tipis can be pinned, to open up the tent, which is why they get the nickname giant hat. Tipis can be linked to one another, so even if you have an event with 1000 guests, you can consider hiring tipis.

Strecht tents

Strecht tents

South African design

Stretch tents are ideal for summer parties & weddings if you have a medium to high budget. The tents are designed in a way to let them be anchored to almost any surface, such as sand, gravel, trees, buildings etc. This feature means the stretch tent can be erected at sites which would be impossible for other marquees.

The decor

The decor

Give your marquee a personality

The decor should relate to your theme, your colour scheme & your budget. Look for decor items that suits your theme and colour scheme, for example if you are having a rustic style wedding search for wooden furniture and brown & earthy colours.

If you have a higher budget, you can hire the decor from the marquee company or venue stylist. For example, if you are having a black tie theme you could hire chandeliers and a black & white dance floor.

Hiring a bar
Hiring a bar

Hiring a bar

Things you should know

Its easier to find a bar to hire, most marquee companies have bars you can hire, the most common are rustic wooden & L.E.D bars. The tricky part is deciding who is going to run the bar.

Here are the three main options our customers choose:

1) Run it yourself - you will need all of your own equipment (gas, bar, taps, bar itself, ice, fridges, glassware, dishwashers etc.) Don’t forget the alcohol, plus friends (staff) to man it on the day. Be aware you need to get a license before you serve alcohol.

2) Phone up local pubs - they will often run the bar free of charge. They make their money by selling the drinks to your guests. They will need to transfer their licence to your premise for the day.

3) Use the catering company - at an additional cost. Be sure to ask for their license.
